RFS RADIO FREQUENCY SYSTEMS WM & BC SERIES

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

BROADBAND MONOPOLES - WM & BC SERIES

photo RFS Radio Frequency Systems WM & BC Series Designed for long distance omnidirectional operation, RFS monopoles are vertically polarized and are characterised by low angle radiation patterns, and a wide selection of frequency ranges and bandwidths.

With high power handling for general HF communication applications, these antennas provide an economical solution, with long term reliability and stability of electrical characteristics. Particular attention has been paid to the matching of dissimilar metals to minimise electrochemical corrosion as well as noise and intermodulation components.

Monopole antennas require a radial ground mat system for specified performance. Ground mat kits are supplied with each antenna. The radiator comprises a biconical cage of stranded marine grade stainless steel wire.

The standard support structure is a guyed triangular galvanised steel mast supported on a heavy duty ceramic insulator. The insulated tower base is fitted with a horn gap for lightning protection. For every severe environments an option is available with the WM series for wind rating of 305 k/hr.

The BC Series are essentially similar, in performance and mechanical arrangement, to the WM Series. However, they are more economical, and simpler to erect, at the expense of a reduction in bandwidth.

RFS offers a complete planning and installation service as well as maintenance facilities for all products.

Construction (WM and BC Series)

RADIATOR ELEMENTS - constructed from marine grade stainless steel.

GUY ASSEMBLIES - galvanized steel, with heavy duty fail-safe insulators isolating conducting sections.

SUPPORT MASTS - Heavy duty welded galvanized steel masts.

EARTH MAT - 64 radials of 16 SWG (1.6 mm) copper wire.

Wind Ratings

Cyclonic: 250 km/hr

Extreme Cyclonic: 305 km/hr (optional)

Feeder Connections

A range of cable terminals and mounting fittings can be supplied, or accommodated, to specification. These include EIA series or Type N.
