GENERAL DESCRIPTION

HF LOG-PERIODIC ANTENNA 10.0-30.0 MHZ - MODEL 610

photo Sabre Communications Corporation Model 610 THE SABRE MODEL 610 LOG PERIODIC ANTENNA is specifically designed for the avid ham operator and also for use in HF government and commercial applications such as Maritime, Embassy, MARS, and industrial communications systems.

The Model 610 is a wide-band antenna array which operates in the 10.0 to 30.0 MHz frequency range. The antenna is well-suited for use with HF communications systems that require changes in both operating frequency and, with the addition of a rotator mechanism, in azimuth. The antenna is constructed of high strength aluminum and stainless steel hardware to ensure maximum corrosion protection in all types of environments. The antenna may be fixed in azimuth or rotated with the Sabre APA-3 Rotator System.

The Sabre Model 610 is a planar array of half wave dipole elements configured in accordance with logarithimically periodic antenna design principles. The array possesses operating characteristics of gain and impedance which remain essentially constant over a wide band of frequencies. The 610 utilizes inductive/capacitive fore-shortening techniques in the active regions at the lower operating frequencies to allow the physical shortening of the array. As a result, the gain characteristics at the lower end of the operating band are less due to loading techniques. The gain increases with frequency and remains essentially constant as the physical dimensions of the dipoles approach electrical half-wave lengths at approximately 14 MHz.

Proper dipole phasing is accomplished by feeding adjacent dipoles from opposite balanced feeders.
